TRIUMPHover disability, injury, and pain
From the Greek word Hippos meaning horse, hippotherapy roughly translates to "treatment with the help of the horse." In this treatment technique the equine movement (movement of the horse) is used as a treatment tool within Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology sessions. The goal is to attain improved physical functioning. Specially trained therapists change the characteristics of a horse's movements and positions of the client on the horse to impact neuromotor, sensory, and cognitive systems with the goal of improving the client's ability to participate in daily life.
Therapy horses average 2,000 steps in half the time it takes humans. In a shorter period of time our clients get thousands more opportunities to target impairments. This makes our therapy sessions more efficient, and more meaningful because we spend less time on intervention, and more time on integration. Freedom Rehabilitation's trained specialists utilize the horse to assist in the treatment of children, adults, and seniors with mild to severe neurological, sensory, oral-motor, communication, and/or motor dysfunction diagnoses. Let our hippotherapy specialists help you reclaim what matters most in your life today.
